Letters Not Written

Reflections of 60 years past is a mental journey much like that of skipping stones across a lake. Somethings I will remember as if they occurred, but only yesterday. Other events will be as if they never happened.

“I have thought of 1,500 or 2,000 incidents in my life which I am ashamed of, but I have not gotten one of them to consent to go on paper yet.” ~ Mark Twain ~

There was a time, when if I wanted to reach out to some one I would write to them a letter. And in that letter I would tell them of all the things that were happening in my life. I did that for several reasons. One, for the love of writing. Two, for the love of sharing details with someone I knew. And final, the most important reason, there would be a reply letter brought to me by the postal service; waiting for me in my mailbox. It was a highlight in one’s life to receive a letter in the mail, rather than the dreadful notice you owe a payment to someone.

The story though, written in those letters is an incomplete one.  That is why I came up with the title for this section, Letters Not Written. I believe it was Mark Twain that said, that no one can write a true autobiography, because some details we tend to embellish upon and other details we will leave out. So, it’s a good thing I’m not trying to do that.

My goal, just tell the story.
