It’s been awhile since I’ve given my blog attention and I’ve figure now is as good a time as any to make a few changes. A year ago though I installed Monster Insights Google Analytics to track traffic. Stat Counter became a subscriber only service and I like free stuff, because to be honest there’s not a lot of money to through into establishing this Internet presence.
So far Google Analytics has been iffy on whether or not it is actually tracking those who view my blog. It says I have had 18 viewers this last year; somehow I think it is missing a few. To test it I installed WP Viewer Statistics (free version). It tells me since install, which was like a day ago, that I have had 8 visitors with 26 page views. I find that interesting since Google Analytics records 0 visitors and 0 page views.
I went though the setup Wizard for Monster Insights, again, hoping that would help the tracking situation. Afterwards I viewed my blog using my phone and it said that some one viewed my blog. But then within in minutes the indicators on Google Analytics said no data had been gathered and it went back to 0 visitors and 0 page views and it is prompting me to get tagging instructions, again. So much for making progress on that front.
It’s like I said on my privacy page, you are in a safe place. I may know you’ve been here to view my content and then again, chances are great, I’ll never know. lol I have to laugh, because as I have found all that this has done is added a distraction away from what I intended to do and that was to post content.
However, as a bonus to my efforts Monster Insights installed a Survey plugin, WP forms and a SEO plugin and in my opinion it’s just added bloat and more distractions. Ah, but who knows, maybe one day I’ll find them useful, but not today.
